KAZAKHSTAN is the world’s 9th largest country in area. Geographically, the country is located deep in Eurasia, on the crossroads between Europe and Asia. The country’s population exceeds 15.5 million. Astana is its national capital.

Kazakhstan is a rapidly developing country of the Central Asian region is part of the 9 international organizations and economic and trade unions.

Kazakhstan is on 50th place in the ranking of ease of doing business according to the World Bank report "Doing Business 2014". Republic moved up three positions in comparison with the year 2013.

In 2010, Kazakhstan chaired the OSCE.

On July 1, 2010 began operating a single customs territory within Kazakhstan, Russia and Belarus.

In 2011 Kazakhstan held VII Asian Winter Games.

In 2013, GDP growth was 6.0% 1. In 2013, the Ministry of Economy and Budget Planning of Kazakhstan published an updated forecast of annual average GDP growth between 2014 and 2018 of 6.5%

In the GDP share of manufacturing goods is 39.9%, services - 52.7%.

Thus, the production of goods for 9 months of 2013 brought the state 60 billion 741 million 253 thousand U.S. dollars, including agriculture, forestry and fisheries - 7 billion 055 million 246 thousand U.S. dollars, industry - 44 billion 915 million 604 thousand U.S. dollars, the construction - 8 billion 770 million 403 thousand U.S. dollars; production of services - 80 billion 094 million 239 thousand U.S. dollars, taxes on products - 11 billion 265 million 169 thousand U.S. dollars.

Economic geography

Kazakhstan consists of five major economic regions :

  • North Kazakhstan - the development of agriculture , mining of iron ore and coal, machinery, petroleum products and ferroalloys and energy.
  • East Kazakhstan - non-ferrous metallurgy , energy, engineering and forestry.
  • Western Kazakhstan - the largest oil and gas producing region .
  • Central Kazakhstan - ferrous and nonferrous metallurgy, machinery , animal husbandry .
  • South Kazakhstan - cotton, rice , wool, grain, fruits , vegetables, grapes ; developed non-ferrous metallurgy , instrumentation, light and food industries , fisheries and forestry .

ALMATY is the country’s biggest city and its long-standing economic, cultural and educational centre.

Almaty region refers to a region of the agrarian orientation. Is the only manufacturer in the country malt, electric accumulators, gypsum products, concrete and metal poles for power transmission lines, fire hydrants, silicone and batting, metal with their hot-dip galvanized.

In order to promote foreign trade, the accelerated development of the region, support industries and solutions to social problems, investment, technology and modern management, and the creation of highly competitive industries in the Republic of Kazakhstan Republic of Kazakhstan Presidential Decrees created 10 special economic zones:
  • “Astana - new city”, Astana;
  • “Seaport Aktau”, Mangystau;
  • “Innovation Park”, Almaty region;
  • “Ontustyk”, South Kazakhstan region;
  • “National Industrial Petrochemical Technopark”, Atyrau;
  • “Burabai”, Akmola region;
  • “Saryarka”, Karaganda region;
  • “Pavlodar”, Pavlodar region;
  • “Khorgos - East Gate”, Almaty region;
  • “Chemical Park Taraz”, Zhambyl.

Besides, Kazakhstan boasts a dynamic mining industry, non-ferrous and ferrous metallurgy, mechanical engineering, construction industry, small and medium business, etc. The current industrial development map of Kazakhstan includes more than 100 projects totalling US$ 45 billion.
